Electric cars in South Africa offer environmental and economic potential but face challenges. While they reduce tailpipe emissions, their benefits are limited by the country’s coal-dependent electricity grid. EVs create opportunities for industrial growth, investment, and new skills development, yet high costs, limited infrastructure, and load shedding slow adoption. Continued renewable energy expansion will determine their long-term impact.

In 2025 South Africa, Proton suffered the steepest sales drop (-48.3 %), followed by Volvo Cars (-36.8 %). Nissan saw the largest volume decline (-32.3 %), while Honda (-13.6 %) and Mitsubishi (-12.5 %) also recorded notable year-on-year decreases in new vehicle registrations.
The best car I have ever used in Pakistan and one can compare it to any best brand in the world. Drive, cabin comfort, safety features and last but not least the fuel economy, all are par excellence.
Engine knocking sound. pickup is worst. if you even try to speed then gear shifting takes time resulting heavy noise of accelarator. on top of that if you try to park on hill area in reverse gear then this car wont stop instead it will go towads
