Volkswagen’s new Tukan half-tonne bakkie has been officially revealed in Brazil, and South Africa is among the markets being considered. The Tukan will replace the Saveiro and enter production in Brazil in 2027. Volkswagen Group Africa has indicated that a localised version could potentially be built at the Kariega plant, but a final production decision has not yet been confirmed.
For South African buyers, the Tukan could become an affordable alternative to larger bakkies and complement the Amarok in Volkswagen’s local line-up. If approved, local production could potentially begin around 2029 or 2030.

The 2026 Renault Duster brings a major redesign to one of South Africa’s best-known compact SUVs. It combines rugged styling, modern technology, generous ground clearance and turbocharged petrol power, while retaining the practical character that made the Duster popular. Renault says the new model offers 212mm .On the road, the Duster feels more refined and comfortable than its predecessor, with the 1.3-litre turbo providing strong performance. Its spacious boot and high ground clearance remain major advantages for South African conditions. The upgraded cabin also brings modern infotainment and improved driver-assistance technology, making the Duster a stronger all-round family SUV.
The best car I have ever used in Pakistan and one can compare it to any best brand in the world. Drive, cabin comfort, safety features and last but not least the fuel economy, all are par excellence.
Engine knocking sound. pickup is worst. if you even try to speed then gear shifting takes time resulting heavy noise of accelarator. on top of that if you try to park on hill area in reverse gear then this car wont stop instead it will go towads
